When customers can book

How much notice you need, how far ahead customers can book, how often start times fall, and whether bookings are confirmed straight away.

These settings decide which times customers can pick on your booking page, and whether a booking is confirmed when they send it. Each location has its own, so a second site can work differently from the first.

Where to find them

  1. In TapBook, open Settings.
  2. Under Locations, choose Edit beside the location.
  3. Change what you need, then choose Save location.

Only owners can change them.

Notice

Notice is the soonest a customer can book, counted from the moment they're looking. Choose None, 1 hr, 2 hr, 4 hr, 1 day or 2 days.

With 2 hr, a customer looking at 9 am can't pick a time before 11 am. Set it to the time you need to get to a new job, and to see the booking before you go.

How far ahead

How far ahead is the latest a customer can book: 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months, 3 months or 6 months from today.

Keep it short if your hours change often, so customers never book a day you haven't planned for.

Start times every

Start times every sets how often a start time is offered: every 15 min, 30 min or 1 hr.

With 30 min, customers see 7:00 am, 7:30 am, 8:00 am and so on. A time only shows when the whole job fits: the service's length, and the buffer kept free after it. Each service's length and buffer are set on the service itself: see Services and extras.

Confirm bookings straight away

Confirm bookings straight away is off when a location starts.

  • Off: a booking arrives in your inbox as a request for you to confirm. The customer's last button reads Request with the day and time, and they see Request sent.
  • On: the customer is booked in when they send it. Their button reads Book with the day and time, and they see You're booked in.

Turn it on once your hours and services are right, so customers only see times you can do. Quote requests, call-backs and messages always wait for you, either way.

On arrival

On arrival is a short note on customer emails that have a time, such as where to park or which door to use. Put one idea on each line, and leave it empty if there's nothing to say.

Things to check

Customers see fewer times than you expect

Look at the notice first: with 1 day, nothing today shows. Then check the service's length and buffer, since a 2 hr job can't start at 4 pm if you close at 5 pm. Closures and blocked time take times away too: see Opening hours and closures.

A customer booked a time you can't do

Move the booking to a better time from the calendar, or cancel it: see Confirm, move and complete bookings. If it keeps happening, turn off Confirm bookings straight away so each booking waits for you.
