Opening hours and closures
Set the hours customers can book, split a day in two, give team members their own hours, and close for public holidays.
Opening hours are when a location takes bookings. Closures are the days and times it is shut, including public holidays and time you block on the calendar. Each location has its own, in that location's time.
Where to find them
- In TapBook, open Booking page, then Hours. You can also open Hours.
- With two or more locations, choose Location first.
- The line under that names the city's time, such as Melbourne time. Set the week or a closure, then save.
Only owners can change them. The tab is there once your booking page is published. See Your booking page.
Opening hours
The card is Opening hours, with the line When this location takes bookings.
Hours for starts on Everyone at this location, then lists each team member and bay at that location.
Each day from Monday to Sunday has Open. A day left off reads Closed. An open day has From and To, in 15-minute steps, such as 7:30 am.
Choose Save hours. TapBook answers Hours saved. If a span ends before it starts, the field says End after it starts. If two spans on the same day overlap, it says These hours overlap.
Their own hours
Choose the person or bay under Hours for, then tick the box that reads their name and has their own hours. Set their week and choose Save hours.
Until that box is on, they work the location's hours. The page says Turn on their own hours to set a different week. Otherwise they work the location's hours.
Who can do each service is set on the service, not here. See Who can do a service.
A split day
On an open day, Add hours adds a second span, for the afternoon after a lunch break. The new span starts at 1:00 pm and ends at 5:00 pm until you change From and To. Remove takes that extra span off. The first span has no Remove.
Choose Save hours after you change the day.
Closures
The card is Closures, with the line Days off and times this location is closed, such as public holidays. Customers can't book them.
There is no separate list of public holidays. Add the day here.
With nothing coming up, the card says No closures coming up. Each row shows the day or the time, then Everyone or one person's name, the reason if you wrote one, and Remove. Past closures aren't shown.
Time blocked on the calendar is listed here too. Block time on the calendar is a closure for part of a day, and Remove on this card opens that time again.
To add one:
- Set From and To.
- Leave All day on for a whole day, such as a public holiday. Turn it off to set Start and End.
- Who is Everyone, or one team member or bay.
- Reason (optional) is for your team only. The help says Only your team sees this.
- Choose Add closure.
TapBook answers Closure added. Remove answers Closure removed.
If the first day is empty, the field says Choose the first day. If the last day is earlier, To says The last day can't be before the first. A timed closure that ends before it starts says End after it starts. A long reason says Use 60 characters or fewer.
Things to check
A working day shows Closed
Open is off for that day, or you saved hours for the wrong Location. Turn Open on, set From and To, and choose Save hours. A person with their own hours can still be closed on a day the location is open: check Hours for.
A public holiday is still bookable
Add it under Closures with All day on, Who set to Everyone, and Add closure. Customers can book a day you have not closed.
One person needs the day off
Set Who to that person or bay, and leave everyone else bookable. For a different week every week, use has their own hours under Hours for instead of a closure.
A week with nothing open tells the customer Nothing's free this week. Try the next week, or request a call-back. Notice and how far ahead hide times too. See When customers can book.
