TapBook

Troubleshooting

Fixes for what owners run into most: a code or email that didn't arrive, a Book button that doesn't show, and a page that says Call us to book.

Most of these are a code that never arrived, a Book button that is not on the website, or a booking page that says Call us to book.

A code or an invite never arrived

Log-in codes and invites are both email. See Log in and switch businesses.

  1. For a login, look for Your TapBook login code. It works for 10 minutes. On Check your email, choose Send a new code.
  2. If you ask again within a minute, the page says Wait a minute, then send a new code.
  3. A wrong or old code says That code didn't work. Check it, or send a new one.
  4. For an invite, look for Join, the business name, and on TapBook. The button in the email is Accept the invite.
  5. This invite has expired means it is older than 7 days. Ask the owner to choose Send again on Staff logins. See Staff logins and roles.
  6. This invite link doesn't work means the link was cut off. Open the whole link from the email.

The log-in page does not say whether an address has a login. If you were never invited, email hello@tapbook.au.

The Book button is not on the website

The button sits in the bottom corner of the site. Its label is one of Book online, Book a service, Book a meeting or Get a quote, set under Button label on Website.

  1. Open Booking page. If you do not see Website, TapBook has not turned the website on, so the button does not show. Share the booking link instead. See Your booking page.
  2. If you do see Website, open it and check Add it to your website. The code under Button on every page has to be on the site. See The Book button for your website and Add TapBook to WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or GoDaddy.
  3. Choose Save website button after you change Button label. TapBook says Website button saved.

The button shows only while the business is taking bookings online. If the site shows Call us to book instead, use the next section.

The page says Call us to book

Customers then see Call us to book, the line We're not taking bookings online right now, and a button that reads Call and the phone number. The form is not there. Two things cause that.

The form is not published yet. On Booking page you see Your booking page is on its way, and Email TapBook. Write to hello@tapbook.au. TapBook builds the page from your services and hours, then puts the link there.

Or the business is paused. Owners see a banner at the top of every screen. When TapBook paused it, the banner says the business is paused, that the booking page shows your phone number instead of the form, and Email hello@tapbook.au to start it again.

Staff cannot log in while it is paused. They see the business name and is paused, then While it is, only its owners can log in, and Log out.

A paused business can also be waiting on a plan. The banner then says one of these, and Choose a plan in Billing to start it again.

  • Payments did not go through: the business is paused because its payments didn't go through, so the booking page shows your phone number instead of the form.
  • The plan ended: the business's plan has ended, so the booking page shows your phone number instead of the form.
  • The free pilot ended: the business's free pilot has ended, so the booking page shows your phone number instead of the form.

While Stripe is still trying a payment, the form stays up. The banner says the payment didn't go through, and Pay it in Billing to keep the booking page live.

Open Billing, or see Plans and billing.

Google has not shown the button yet

On Google, under Add it on Google, TapBook says Google decides where the button shows, and a change can take a while to appear. Booking is a separate button from your website link. Leave the website link as it is.

Check the steps there: Booking on Google Search, or Edit profile then Booking in Google Maps, then Add link and Save. See Add your booking link to Google.

Things to check

You asked for a code and nothing came

Look for Your TapBook login code, including in spam. Then Send a new code. Wait a full minute between tries.

Customers see a phone number and no form

The business is paused, or the booking page is not published. Owners: read the banner, or the Your booking page is on its way heading. Staff of a paused business use Log out and ask an owner.
