Webhooks for Zapier and Make

A webhook sends each booking to another app, such as Zapier or Make, as it's made, changed or cancelled. The card is on Settings while webhooks are on for your business. Only owners can add addresses and see the signing secret. If Webhooks is missing, email hello@tapbook.au.

Open Settings. The card is Webhooks. With none yet, it says No webhooks yet.

In Zapier, add Webhooks by Zapier with Catch Hook. In Make, add a Custom webhook. Paste the address it gives you here, then send a test booking so it learns the fields.

1. Choose Add a webhook.
2. Address is the web address Zapier, Make or your own app gives you. It starts with https://.
3. Send it bookings that are has three choices, all ticked to start: Made, Changed and Cancelled. Changed covers confirmed, moved, booked in, a quote sent, completed, a no-show, and an undo.
4. Cancel closes the question. Add webhook saves it.

You can keep 10 addresses. At 10, Add a webhook cannot be pressed, and the line says: That's the most there can be. Remove one to add another.

An address that does not start with https:// says: Enter an address that starts with https://. An address that is not on the public internet says TapBook can't send to it. An address already on the card says: That address is already here. With no choice ticked, it says Tick at least one.

Once it is added, the same question shows the Signing secret, and the button is Done. The toast says Webhook added.

The address is shown without https://, cut short in the middle when it is long. A chip reads On, or Stopped when it has stopped.

Under it, what it gets: Bookings made, changed and cancelled, or only the ones you ticked, such as Bookings made and cancelled.

A stopped address says why, then: Start it again to carry on. Bookings in the meantime aren't sent. One reason is that the app said the address is gone. Another is that it didn't take bookings for a day.

The actions are Send a test booking, Signing secret, Change and Remove. A stopped address has Start again in place of Send a test booking.

Change asks Change what goes to that address's host, with the same three choices. Cancel closes it. Save keeps them. The toast says Saved.

Remove asks Remove this webhook? The line says bookings stop going there, and anything still waiting to go is dropped. Keep it closes it. Remove removes it.

Start again turns a stopped address back on. The toast says Webhook started again.

Signing secret shows the address, the secret, and Copy. Copy says Secret copied. Your own app can check that each booking came from TapBook with it: it signs the webhook-signature header, as Standard Webhooks describes. Zapier and Make don't need it.

The headers on each booking are:

webhook-timestamp
webhook-signature

webhook-id stays the same on every try of that booking. The type of the booking is booking.created, booking.changed or booking.cancelled.

Send a test booking sends a made-up booking, marked as a test, straight away. The toast says Test booking on its way to the address's host. In the log it is Test booking.

Sent to your webhooks is the log, under the addresses. With nothing in it, it says: Nothing sent yet. Bookings go as they're made, changed or cancelled.

The columns are When, Booking, Change and Status. Under the change, it says To the address's host. Booking opens that booking.

Change is what happened, in words: Requested, Booked, Received, Confirmed, Moved, Booked in, Quote sent, Completed, No-show, Cancelled, Cancel undone, Undone or Test booking.

Status is Waiting, Sending, Sent, Trying again, Not sent, Skipped or Sent with a later change. Trying again and Not sent come first. Not sent has Retry, which sends that booking again straight away, with the same webhook-id. The toast says Sending it again. Show more loads the next rows.

A made booking goes as it arrives: a booking, a request, a quote, a call-back or an enquiry. A cancel, a complete and a no-show wait 10 seconds, so Undo on the booking can stop them. See Confirm, move and complete bookings.
